Privacy

We keep no list of who looks at what.

The short version

Shopabroad has no accounts and no signup to browse. We don't build a profile of you. We don't sell data. We don't run third-party advertising trackers. The one exception is our pre-launch notification list: if you choose to leave your email on our coming-soon page, we store it only to tell you when we go live (see below). The only other data that touches our servers is what every web request leaves behind - IP, browser, page requested - and we keep it only as long as our hosting provider needs it to operate.

Launch notification list

Before launch we offer a “notify me” form on our coming-soon page. Here's exactly how it works:

What stays on your device

When you bookmark a product, your home/destination choice and saved items are kept in your browser's local storage. We don't see this. Clearing your browser data wipes it. We don't transmit it anywhere.

Server logs

The site is hosted on Vercel. Their infrastructure keeps the standard access logs (IP, timestamp, URL, user agent) that any web host keeps, for a limited retention period set by Vercel. We use these logs to debug errors. We don't join them with anything else to identify individuals.

Exchange rates and content

Exchange rates are fetched server-side from the European Central Bank via Frankfurter. Product data is served from Sanity (our content backend). Neither of those services receives information about you when you load a page - only our server talks to them.

Outbound clicks

When you click a retailer link, you leave Shopabroad and land on the retailer's site. Their privacy policy applies from that point. Some of those links are affiliate links (see our disclosure) - the affiliate network may set a cookie on the retailer's domain to track that the visit came from us. They don't see your activity on Shopabroad itself.

Cookies

We don't set any cookies of our own today. If we activate affiliate networks (Skimlinks, Amazon Associates), those will set their own cookies for attribution - at that point we'll add a consent banner and update our cookie page.

Your rights

Under EU/Belgian law (GDPR) you can request access to, correction of, or deletion of any personal data we hold about you. Realistically, we don't hold much - there are no accounts to delete and we don't store identifiers tied to you. If you believe we have something, write to us and we'll act on it within 30 days.

You can also lodge a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority (Gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit) at gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit.be.
